Moving Home

Thinking of making a move? Whether you are wanting to upsize, downsize or simply want a change of scenery, we can help make that happen.

You May Be Familiar with The Process of Taking Out a Mortgage but Here at Rightclick, We Do Things A Little Differently

Taking out a mortgage may not be the most exciting process of purchasing a property, perhaps it is as a first time buyer but as a seasoned pro, we guess you just want to know what’s available and where you can sign up?

Chances are though, your circumstances have changed since your last move, whether that’s your personal or financial situation. The fact is that there is so much variety when it comes to choosing a mortgage, the mortgage that worked for you last time may not be the best choice second, or even third time around. However, if it ain’t broke then don’t fix it! If your mortgage is working for you then ask about ‘porting’ your mortgage, you may be able to keep your existing mortgage deal on your new home.

We would always suggest that a little self-led research is the best option to start your search, so why not check out our Guide to Mortgages to refresh your memory? 1. Sell, Sell, Sell

Make Sure You Make Your Property Attractive to Buyers.

Before you open the door to your dream home, you will first need to sell your current abode. Although in theory, it's simple, selling a property in the current economic climate can be tough.

Make your property attractive to buyers, little things can help like setting the scene for photographs and viewings, perhaps by dressing the dining room table or cleaning up the driveway. Make it easy for the potential buyers to envision themselves living there.
2. Packing & Removals

Being as Organised as You Can is the Best Way to Go About It

Moving your possessions into your new home can be one of the most stressful parts of moving home, but being as organised as possible is the best way to go about it.

Start by getting quotes from removal firms and make sure you check out their reviews online. Take measurements and pictures of the furnishings and doorways in your new home so the removal firm can plan ahead for the more difficult furnishings. Keeping a list to track everything can help to ensure no precious items are missing and a signed copy from the removal firm will add a little protection if anything does happen to disappear.
3. Inform People

Inform Companies of Your Move As Soon As Possible

Eeek! Think of the number of companies that have your details stored on their system. Whether it is the DVLA, utility companies, insurance companies or the bank, your private and confidential data could end up in the hands of your successor if you don't take the right steps to protect it.

All companies need to be informed of your new address as soon as possible. Go through your e-mails and bank statements to make a list of all those you need to contact. It may also be worthwhile contacting Royal Mail to redirect any of your post that slips through the net!
4. Change the Locks

Book in For a Locksmith to Change the Locks on The Day You Move Your Belongings In

There is nothing more exciting than getting the keys to your new home but it’s easy to forget that they once belonged to somebody else. You can never be sure how many people have copies of those keys, from family members to contractors.

Many people book to change the locks on the day that they move in themselves, but if you are moving some of your belongings across a few days earlier, it is important to ensure that they are safe. Plan ahead and book a locksmith to change the locks as soon as you get the keys.
5. Relax

Remember, Rome Wasnt Built in a Day!

It’s easy to get carried away when you are about to move into a new home, from Pinterest boards and shopping wishlists to essential improvements, putting your stamp on a house can prove to be a costly endeavour.

Be realistic and budget properly with a safety net to ensure your regular outgoings are not affected. Take it paycheck by paycheck, you'll get the dream home, but great things take time to craft. Let your house grow with you.
